June 7, 2013 Friday, cloudy 65*
We had hoped to see a Moose but for it to be a bull was excellent!
And as a total surprise the next was a Grizzly!
And below if you look closely he was keeping a close eye on us

We left Muncho lake and headed for the next stop which was Watson lake. We started the trip with an unexpected surprise of seeing a bull Moose!
We were soon rewarded with more wildlife but mostly bears. It started out with a Black Bear
Then it was a Brown Bear! He wasn't so happy we interrupted his breakfast either
We then saw multiple more bears being Blacks and Browns. When we stopped to fuel I was talking to the owner of the place and mentioned how many bear we had seen and he remarked the Game Warden had stopped earlier n the week and told him he better make sure to have a gun when he went not the woods cause if he thought he had been seeing a lot of bears he should see it from a helicopter ! We had passed a couple of Meals on Wheels (bicyclists) as Terry calls the them.
The day was also filled with lots of roaming Bison for miles.
Then there were Stone's Sheep
Watson Lake!
Well we got here, campgrounds are few here as a couple have closed up. We chose the Downtown RV park which is owned and run by a Scotsman by the name of Archie, very heavy accent and very funny! I talked with him a while and learned he is from a town 25 miles from where my dad was born in Paisley. He came to the states in his 20's and worked designing robots and systems for underwater use. Fifteen years ago he got drunk and bought this campground and said its the best thing he ever did, he works 6 months and then heads for California. Park has really nice bathrooms and showers along with a laundry. One of the things I noticed when we arrived was a picture of the Gold Rush guys hanging on the wall and signed. He said they would stay there every year on their way to Alaska. They also had a power wash here and we scrubbed down the motorhome.
The big thing of notice here is what is called the Signpost Forrest, the best way to find out all about is to look it up on the Internet but the short of it is, a guy in the service stationed near here put a sign up with an arrow depicting the miles to his home town in Danville Illinois in 1942. Well it caught on and today there are over 78,000 signs from all over the world including a heck of a lot from Ohio and I even found a license plate from Ohio in champaign county. Terry and Dale had been planning on putting a sign here and we had not given it much thought till we saw what a spectacular sight it was, so they were prepared and gave us a plate to write on. Should you ever come here you should find our plate and put the date along with your name or initials. When you get to the entrance on the main highway count 17 posts to your left and ours and the Paces is just to the left of that post at waste heigth.
The entrance is below

Look it up and read, very interesting and a cool place to see!
We also went to the Northern Lights Center which is a film in a big dome showing first, space travel and info and finishing with a display of the Northern Lights. Admission for being 55 or older and a coupon from the campground is $8 a person. Terry choose to use it as a place to nap LOL!
Tomorrow is Teslin
