Got down below freezing last night but we stayed pretty warm under the covers, running the inverter to give us 120v’s electric we could run the mattress heater and the heater for Jessies bed. Furnace kicked on about every 2 minutes so it was pretty consistent but the batteries did great and we still had 68% this morning.
As for mileage, the motorhome has been averaging about 6.5 mpg and the price of gas in California is ridiculous at some places over $5 a gallon.
Did some night photography since the sky was pretty dark and the stars really popped out, used my digital but also tried my iPhone 13 which I have to admit did a better job! As with all photos of the night sky and even the professionals do this, the settings have to be manipulated to pull the colors out that our eyes can’t see at night, hence the awesome Milky Way pictures you have seen. Some of both are posted below.
As I am typing this at 5:30 in the morning I am waiting for the sun to start rising so I can get a time lapse of that over the awesome Pinnacles.
Today we will get in the Jeep and tour around, there are some other clusters of the Pinnacles here that are older and newer, anywhere from 10,000 to 100,000 years old!
Update: Deanna and I took a trip around to look at all the Pinnacles, very awesome and amazing how they formed, some large some small. Got lots of pictures to process but will eventually get it done. It has been very handy to have the jeep on this trip since there has been a lot of desert running but tomorrow morning we pull out and head to Death Valley. So we have about an hour to get out of this spot since the road is 5 miles long and in terrible condition but Death Valley is only 101 miles away. No clue on where we will stay there but hoping to get a spot in one of the first come first serve campgrounds. If not we will search for a boon-dock site or a campground.
Temps are suppose to be back down to the 20’s tonight again so another chilly night.
