Memorial Day part 2/Devils Tower

May 27, 2013 you pick the weather it was sunny, cloudy, foggy and briefly rainy !

We only traveled about 140 miles today to a little motel/RV park with 4 spots and a really nice place. Unseen motel/ RV parks are a risky investment for a nights stay but this one is fantastic. We are n Moorcroft Wyoming.

On the way in we stopped at the visitors center and picked up some info on the state and looked around, they are really big on tourism here and so far in all the states we have crossed have the best roads. Below is a pic from inside of a copy of a sometingsauris creature that had been found nearby.

And a look across the field,

There was an antelope out in the field but it did not show up in this picture.

After arriving we ate some dinner and headed off for Devils Tower, it was about 30 miles away and Terry and Dale drove us over and we left our motorhome at the park.

Upon nearing the tower it is quite a spectacular sight.

Towering 1264 feet above the park office level. When we got to the office the first thing Terry and Dale noticed was someone climbing the tower which is allowed as long as you register.

Then on the other side we found 3 more climbing
N

Here is a pic of one climber coming down, you have to look real close and you will see him in a green shirt but this puts this giant rock in perspective! He is just to the right of the top of evergreen tree.

Then just some neat clouds on the way back

Tomorrow is about 200 miles to go and near the Battle of the Little Big Horn.
More to come tomorrow!
