Lake Loramie State Park

Camping on the lake again, we came 3 times last year as this has become a favorite spot and only 40 miles from home.  Clear bright blue skies with a breeze blowing and it feels soooo good! Birds are chirping the cottonwoods are shedding and at the moment very low humidity. After being confined by the Covid19 pandemic the parks finally opened back up on May 21st, we knew the parks would be slammed and they were so we just waited for some of it to die down. So here it is almost 3 weeks later and this park is still pretty busy, we arrived on Sunday afternoon and there were probably 50-60 rv's still here a few have pulled out this morning but still pretty busy but it is quiet and no kids are screaming or dogs barking. Just a nice quiet relaxing atmosphere.

Yesterday the the beach was FULL, both parking lots were packed and people were parking in the grass and had their grills out cooking. I have never seen the beach that crowded in the 4 times we have been here, so this morning Jess and I walked past the beach and suprisingly the area was really clean, people threw their trash away like they should, what was left which is odd is the blankets, towels, iflatables, buckets and multiple toys, you know stuff you have to replace! lol Anyway we walked on and over by the spillway we came across a turtle probably 8-9" laying eggs in the mud along the path, just snapped a picture and let her get on with her business.

We are here till Friday morning so lots of relaxing and I brought a kayak with me so will do some paddling and actually bought a fishing license which I havent done for probably 5 years or better, not saying I will use it but I have it :).

Gonna grill some brats over the fire for lunch today and just sit and watch the world pass by!

Searching for Eagle Eye!

November 17th, 2019

Dan took me to an attraction called Eagles Eye, I found it on the google maps and Dan had been there before. My mistake of thinking it looked like it could be reached fairly close by vehicle.......wrong. This was about 10 miles from the park. Had an awesome time! Got to see the feature and found a couple mines on the way back. Video of one. I dropped the rock and the response took 5 seconds. I checked google for a time vs depth and it came back at about 120' deep STRAIGHT DOWN. There was a wooden ladder going down in it but they tore the first 20 or so feet of it down, it had some posts and fencing roping it off. Also this looked to be a copper mine since most of the tailings had copper corrosion on it.

Mine hunting

November 13th, 2019
Made some friends here at the park Lisan ad John in the back and Dan at the front. Dan was kind enough to take me out in his Ranger UTV so we could do some exploring. John and Lisa had found a mine back about 8 miles in the desert that looked like it might be Turquoise but it turns out is is called Gem Silica 7th photo down. Looks like the mine was actually for copper and this just happened to be in the ground.  The pictures of the overturned UTV we came upon on the way back and flipped it back over and wrote on the windshield "You're Welcome" ran across the guy just a ways down the trail. He was drunk SMH.

Misc road photos

October 26th, 2019

These are basically a stink bug, when threatened they stand on their head and can spray a nasty scent at you, they are pretty good sized bugs about an inch long.
