Still plugging along

November 17th, 2010 Wednesday, Temp 36

Time has been to busy this year with lots going on to take time to blog. We haven't been able to travel much this year as Deanna was taking care of her twin sister after some serious surgery on her back that disabled her. We purchased a double house to put her sister in nearby and rent the other side out. That all went bad in the last couple of months when the tenant decided not to pay rent. Short story, they are evicted now, apartment has been refurbished with paint and floors and some other improvements and just about ready to re-rent. Hopefully we can get some better tenants this time.

Work has been busy and fortunately looks to be so in the future. We hope in the future to get back to some serious traveling. Alaska is in our future plans but we need to get some things in order before that will happen. We still have so many places on our list to visit :) . We just were able to do some local traveling to the lake up the road for a get away and make the trek to Elkhart Indiana to visit our friends Terry and Dale. Our other friends Ken and Kathy stopped by in July for a visit on their way to the east coast for work. Terry and Dale also stopped by a couple times this year.

Major is doing well for being 16 years old, as always he gets most excited when it is snack time and had developed quite the taste for Frosted Mini wheats! What the heck, after 16 years he is entitled to a little pampering...................as if he never got any LOL!!

Well, Facebook has proved what assholes they can be. The disabled Deanna's account for creating a fake account LOL~ you mean she is not real? OH MY! I sent an email asking for what reasons they had disabled it and that was what she got back, then today she got another email and said the decision was final and would not be reversed...............oh REALLY, they had re-enabled her account and last I knew it was still active..dumb ass's . There is enough grief in the world or at least our world so I disabled my account, the funny thing is I had actually created a fake account LONG ago and they never caught it but kick my wife off for being non existence. For those of you still using facetrash, don't be surprised if it happens to you. They seem to be getting to big for their own pants. With all the crap apps they ad and the virus's circulating through some of those apps I feel a lot safer now just by not being on there. So for the future, the good ole Email is the best way to contact us or phone.

Who can believe it is almost December! Barely a month to go till xmas. This year seems to have flown by so fast and the summer was gone before we knew it. Hopefully things smooth out and can slow back down next year. We could use some relaxing traveling :)

Hope everyone is doing good and have yourselves safe and happy holidays, think of us when you are basking the the warm southern sun :)

UGGGGG, Make it STOP!

February 16th, 2010 Tuesday

We just had our third storm in 10 days and this one is not over yet! Total snow fall in those 3 storms comes to about 19" of snow! Now I hear tell possibly another up to 10 inches coming in this weekend!!! THEY BETTER BE WRONG! There hasn't been any relief in between in the way of warmer temps to help bring some of it down. Gonna be a mess this spring when it finally starts to thaw, then we will have new problems to deal with. Outside our door is a drift about 4' deep, boy is that gonna be sloppy when it melts.
Crazy weather all over I guess, our friends Ken and Kathy and Dale and Terry are getting the shivers all the way down in Mission Texas also and with snow covering some part of every state on the mainland seems to me that global warming is BULLSHIT! Just another way to get us to spend our money and make a few richer.

Not much else going on as there is not much to do outside. I have been doing a lot of volunteering for our Sportsman's club by taking care of their turkey shoots on weekends and trying to get some other activities planned for the year. Deanna was voted in to be Treasurer of the club so she is staying kind of busy keeping up with that. It's pretty cool sharing that together :) .

Major is doing pretty well, age is slowing him down as far as climbing steps but he is always eager to go outside in the cold (which for some reason he loves the snow) and eat. He never misses snack time that is for sure and his internal clock keeps him abreast of what time it is!

Well, time for work, stay warm!

Penguin info

September 26th, 2009

Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica - where do they go?

Wonder no more!

It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life.

The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life.

If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried.

The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing:

"Freeze a jolly good fellow."

"Then they kick him in the ice hole."

Just chillin

August 30th, 2009 Sunday

Nothing to really report as we have not been traveling. Trying to wait out this so called recession. We originally planned to go to Colonial Williamsburg but have put that on hold till next year. I am assuming it is not going anywhere too soon.

Did a little fishing yesterday with my buddy Phil at a local county park where you don't have to buy a license. Absolutely slayed the fish! I caught 2 aquarium size bluegills :) Poor Phil got skunked, and I used his bait to boot!

Went Metal detecting a couple of weeks ago and found a silver quarter dated 1929s. Is in real really good shape. Also found a 1930 Wheatie penny.

Deanna is doing good and putting up with me :) its a constant trial for her. Major is doing good and still anticipating the next round of snacks!

Weather is gonna be unusually cool for the next week not getting out of the 70's and dipping into the 40's at night.

Well hope eveyone is doing well, till next time everyone take care!

Home again

Monday July 7th, 2009

A little late posting but we got home a week ago Friday. Was a short trip from our overnight stay in Michigan with only about 150 miles to go. First thing when arriving home was to get the RV washed before putting back in the building. Anyway I have some pictures to finish posting.

Here is Gunner and Virginia in Bemidji, loved seeing them again!

Major was not concerned with any bridges!

Here are some pics approaching the Mackinaw bridge and some from the bridge. In the one picture you can see that they are now paving the bridge.

Lower Michigan

June 25th 2009, Thursday

We are stopped in Dundee Michigan for the night, a lot farther than we planned to go as this was about 500 miles. The problem is Lower Michigan is not campground friendly. This one is about 4 miles off the road, they have a nice pond for swimming and another for fishing but a lot of permanents staying here. PRICEY TOO $32 with NO sewer!

We got off the road just in time for some storms, we had a little rain on the road but not too bad. Currently storming bad enough that even Major with his bad hearing heard the thunder LOL!

We only have about 150 miles to go so we will be home around noon tomorrow. First thing is to clean the rv and truck, they need it bad!

Well this vacation is about to finish so the blog will slow down also :) Thanks for following along!

Upper Michigan

June 24th, 2009 Wednesday HOT!

We left Bemidji this morning at 8am, taking route 2 across the top of Wisconsin into Michigan. Slow going as it is all 55 mph. We stopped for lunch and after eating I got Major out so he could eat, I decided to sit down on the pavement while he ate and the first thing I noticed was a huge screw sticking out of the crown of the tread on the inside dual tire. SO I had to change that and as luck would have it that was the tire that my Pressure pro sensor was not working on! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, Hopefully it can be patched, it was down to 30 psi when I got it off. Hopefully I don't have another flat as I am going to wait till we get home to get it fixed.

We are sitting in some little town named Ishpeming Mi, Country Village RV Park. It is a passport park and only $18 a night. Pretty nice park with full hookups and cable tv, right on M28 and within walking distance of restaurants and shopping if you need it.

We should make it home on Friday afternoon barring any issues.

Here is a overhead shot of the campground.
