February 16th, 2010 Tuesday
We just had our third storm in 10 days and this one is not over yet! Total snow fall in those 3 storms comes to about 19" of snow! Now I hear tell possibly another up to 10 inches coming in this weekend!!! THEY BETTER BE WRONG! There hasn't been any relief in between in the way of warmer temps to help bring some of it down. Gonna be a mess this spring when it finally starts to thaw, then we will have new problems to deal with. Outside our door is a drift about 4' deep, boy is that gonna be sloppy when it melts.
Crazy weather all over I guess, our friends Ken and Kathy and Dale and Terry are getting the shivers all the way down in Mission Texas also and with snow covering some part of every state on the mainland seems to me that global warming is BULLSHIT! Just another way to get us to spend our money and make a few richer.
Not much else going on as there is not much to do outside. I have been doing a lot of volunteering for our Sportsman's club by taking care of their turkey shoots on weekends and trying to get some other activities planned for the year. Deanna was voted in to be Treasurer of the club so she is staying kind of busy keeping up with that. It's pretty cool sharing that together :) .
Major is doing pretty well, age is slowing him down as far as climbing steps but he is always eager to go outside in the cold (which for some reason he loves the snow) and eat. He never misses snack time that is for sure and his internal clock keeps him abreast of what time it is!
Well, time for work, stay warm!

Penguin info
September 26th, 2009
Did you ever wonder why there are no dead penguins on the ice in Antarctica - where do they go?
Wonder no more!
It is a known fact that the penguin is a very ritualistic bird which lives an extremely ordered and complex life.
The penguin is very committed to its family and will mate for life, as well as maintaining a form of compassionate contact with its offspring throughout its life.
If a penguin is found dead on the ice surface, other members of the family and social circle have been known to dig holes in the ice, using their vestigial wings and beaks, until the hole is deep enough for the dead bird to be rolled into and buried.
The male penguins then gather in a circle around the fresh grave and sing:
"Freeze a jolly good fellow."
"Then they kick him in the ice hole."

Just chillin
August 30th, 2009 Sunday
Nothing to really report as we have not been traveling. Trying to wait out this so called recession. We originally planned to go to Colonial Williamsburg but have put that on hold till next year. I am assuming it is not going anywhere too soon.
Did a little fishing yesterday with my buddy Phil at a local county park where you don't have to buy a license. Absolutely slayed the fish! I caught 2 aquarium size bluegills :) Poor Phil got skunked, and I used his bait to boot!
Went Metal detecting a couple of weeks ago and found a silver quarter dated 1929s. Is in real really good shape. Also found a 1930 Wheatie penny.
Deanna is doing good and putting up with me :) its a constant trial for her. Major is doing good and still anticipating the next round of snacks!
Weather is gonna be unusually cool for the next week not getting out of the 70's and dipping into the 40's at night.
Well hope eveyone is doing well, till next time everyone take care!

Home again
Monday July 7th, 2009
A little late posting but we got home a week ago Friday. Was a short trip from our overnight stay in Michigan with only about 150 miles to go. First thing when arriving home was to get the RV washed before putting back in the building. Anyway I have some pictures to finish posting.
Here is Gunner and Virginia in Bemidji, loved seeing them again!
Major was not concerned with any bridges!

Here are some pics approaching the Mackinaw bridge and some from the bridge. In the one picture you can see that they are now paving the bridge.

Lower Michigan
June 25th 2009, Thursday
We are stopped in Dundee Michigan for the night, a lot farther than we planned to go as this was about 500 miles. The problem is Lower Michigan is not campground friendly. This one is about 4 miles off the road, they have a nice pond for swimming and another for fishing but a lot of permanents staying here. PRICEY TOO $32 with NO sewer!
We got off the road just in time for some storms, we had a little rain on the road but not too bad. Currently storming bad enough that even Major with his bad hearing heard the thunder LOL!
We only have about 150 miles to go so we will be home around noon tomorrow. First thing is to clean the rv and truck, they need it bad!
Well this vacation is about to finish so the blog will slow down also :) Thanks for following along!

Upper Michigan
June 24th, 2009 Wednesday HOT!
We left Bemidji this morning at 8am, taking route 2 across the top of Wisconsin into Michigan. Slow going as it is all 55 mph. We stopped for lunch and after eating I got Major out so he could eat, I decided to sit down on the pavement while he ate and the first thing I noticed was a huge screw sticking out of the crown of the tread on the inside dual tire. SO I had to change that and as luck would have it that was the tire that my Pressure pro sensor was not working on! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, Hopefully it can be patched, it was down to 30 psi when I got it off. Hopefully I don't have another flat as I am going to wait till we get home to get it fixed.
We are sitting in some little town named Ishpeming Mi, Country Village RV Park. It is a passport park and only $18 a night. Pretty nice park with full hookups and cable tv, right on M28 and within walking distance of restaurants and shopping if you need it.
We should make it home on Friday afternoon barring any issues.
Here is a overhead shot of the campground.

Where the Ospreys Fly

June 23rd, 2009 Tuesday, weather mixed
Well Ken and Kathy had to leave this morning to be back in Goshen for some scheduled work on their rv but we are here till tomorrow morning. The morning started out beautiful with the sun shining and getting hot as hell, then by afternoon the clouds rolled in with a cool front and that brought some temporary storms, some thunder and lightening and rain. Before you know it that passed and the sun was back out, then went back to looking gloomy and guess what? Yep, sunny and clear again!
We went out to Bob and Jane's house with Gunner and Virginia and their grand daughter Kaylee for a steak cookout. Bob did the grilling and Jane prepared some kind of greenbean soupy thing with I guess it was potato salad ( I don't like it so didn't check it out :) ) some potato chips and cheese. Was a great feed and after all that we had you guessed it! Ice cream cake :) . Below is a pic of Bob and Jane.

Then just a little while ago we went to get some pics of the Ospreys we saw last night in their nest and they were quite generous in allowing me to take some pics.

So tomorrow we are off towards home but instead of going south through Illinois we opted to go east thru the UP of Michigan then head south across the Mackinaw bridge. Should be home on Friday or Saturday.
We have had the best time visiting all our old friends and sharing time with our traveling buddy's Ken and Kathy. They will be by next week on their way to a show in Columbus so it was not good bye to them really. We really want to say thanks to Gunner and Virginia and Bob and Jane for showing us such a great time. Sure was great to make these guys friends long ago. We will visit them again in the future or maybe they will come by and see us.
So from Bemidji Minnesota, farewell our friends and stay in touch, we are only a call away.
Also would like to say thanks to Keith and Mary Davidson for giving us and our friends a great deal on a week of camping in their KOA here in Bemidji, they really have a great crew of workampers this year and they all made us feel welcome. The Famous hobo stew on Friday was fantastic and long been calling our names!
Below is a picture of my Niece and her family who came to see us in Goshen! Thanks sweetheart! We love you!
