Falls day

October 2nd, 2008 Thursday 60* rainy

Well today is tourist day. We had plans to go to the falls today and BOY was it wet! Started raining right after we got parked and walked down by the falls! It then rained harder and and wouldn't quit! So we hurried to the nearest tourist center with shops. They have an upper floor with windows so you can look at the falls from up above. Got some shots from there before we headed back out armed with rain ponchos! We didn't spend a lot of time there but got some good pics and the rain was off and on and provided for a perfect rainbow! Shortly thereafter it began raining HARD and did not let up so that drove us to leave and head for Lake on the Niagara.

Lake on the Niagara is an old town going back to the 1700's, lots of shops of course but lots of history there. Fort Mississauga was there and Fort George. We made it to Fort Mississauga and got to look around, across the river is Fort Niagara on the American side. This is where lots of battles took place during the war of 1812. On our way back from the Fort it started ............you guessed it RAINING again!! We had just about dried off from the first rain and now on our way to getting soaked again! We headed for the car and called it a day as it was about 6:30. Judy and Joe wanted to take us to a restaurant they really like that is a buffet of Chinese and American food. It was spectacular! Lots of desserts and stuff to eat, all you can eat Prime rib and so on! WE stuffed ourselves and headed back and arrived about 8:30 . We were beat and it was cold out so we just retired and relaxed!

Had a blast, wet to the bone, but all the laughs & giggles made it unnoticeable!!

The old Fort was cool and was looking forward to the next one ~ till the next downpour came. LOL

We'll make it next year and then some.
